2019 Board Updates

The Danvers American Board of Directors is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the league and oversees the local rules per Little League International. On an annual basis, the board is elected by league members in good standing and uphold the bylaws as defined in the league constitution. If you are interested in being a member of the Danvers American Board, we are always looking for passionate individuals to help the league. Please reach out to the President and introduce yourself. 

In August 2018, the Board met and held elections for several key positions including President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasure. Earlier in the year, the Board implemented a succession plan for the role of President and key roles; elections were formally held in August to vote in members. A vote was held for the remaining positions in September, the Board also expanded the Information Officer role to include duties of a Public Relations Officer. 

New to the Board this year we welcome: Mark, Scott, Aaron, Shawn, Joel and Kevin. We said good-bye to our President, Bill Nolan, Secretary, Jason Navarro, Treasure, Matt Curran and Scheduling Officer, Frank Missett, Our long-time Concessions Officer, John Kobierski, also retired. John spent over ten years with Danvers American and we can't thank him enough for his term of service. John was at the field early and was the last one to leave the field most nights. Thank you to again to Bill, Jason, Matt, Frank and John for all the hours you dedicated to the league. 

The Board passed a motion to expand the Vice-President role to split the duties of League Operations and Field/Facility Operations into two roles for improved coverage and responsibility. Andrew and Chris were elected to their respective roles. Mike was voted in as the new President of Danvers American after holding the roles of Vice President and Information Officer the past two seasons. James and Jason will continue to hold their positions of Player Agent and Safety Officer. We also enacted a succession plan for the outgoing Treasure; Kevin became Treasure effective on October 1st or the start of our next fiscal year. 

Mark was elected as the Equipment Officer and will also dedicate time on improving our coaching and player development programs. Mark is in his 17th year as a faculty member of Endicott College and is currently the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Recreation. Kevin McCarthy joins the Board as Treasure, Kevin is the Chief Financial Officer of the North Shore YMCA.
