Williamsport Game 1: Danvers American 11, Gloucester 5
Danvers American exploded for five runs in each of the first two innings and also rode the pitching of Brendan Mackey as it romped in the opening round of the District 15 Williamsport tournament. Mackey handled the first 5 1/3 innings on the mound, allowing 5 runs. Ryan Kelleher closed the game. Alex Taylor walloped a three-run homer in the first for Danvers and Bailey Klein rapped a three-run homer in the second. Kelleher and Taylor each finished 3 for 4 while Klein was 3 for 5. Catcher Chris Butler was 2 for 3 and rightfielder Nick Andreas was 2 for 4.
Williamsport Game 2: Danvers American wins, beats Peabody American 13-1 (5 innings mercy rule) Chris Butler complete game 3 hitter (9 K's). Bailey Klein & Alex Taylor led the way with 3 hits. Bailey hit his second HR of the tournament. Chris Butler had 2 hits & also reached on an error. Brendan Mackey had 2 hits & reached on an error. Nick Andreas had 2 hits & a walk. Ryan Kelleher 2 hits & also walked & reached on an error. Ryan Buchanan 2 hits Rich Martino & Mark Etherington both made nice catches at second base.
Williamsport Game 3: Danvers American 7, Peabody National 1 Game was played Thursday July 9, 2009 at Harry Ball Field, Beverly. Brendan Mackey took the hill for DALL, he mixed up his pitches well & kept Peabody National off balance all night. He pitched 4 2/3 innings, 8 K's. Ryan Kelleher pitched the last 1 1/3 innings. Combined 1 hitter. Offensively: Bottom One Chris Butler reached base on an error, then 2 passed balls had him on third. Mark Etherington drove Butsy in with a long fly ball to CF. Bottom three score 1-0 Danvers American again Chris Butler led off the inning with a double, Brendan Mackey would drive him with a sacrifice fly to CF. Bailey Klein followed with his third HR of the tournament. Bottom 5: Matt Kidney led off with a triple to RF, Butsy single knocked in Kidney, Etherington walk, Brendan Mackey helped his cause with a 3 run HR. 7-1 DALL.
Williamsport Game 4: Winner Bracket Final: Peabody West 10, Danvers American 0 Tough loss for DALL. Hosman pitched and hit well for Peabody West. DALL had hits from Mark Etherington & Bailey Klein. Next game Thursday 7/16/09 , 7 pm, Harry Ball Field in Beverly.
Williamsport Game 5: Beverly East 2, Danvers American 1
Danvers American completed the tournament in third place. Brendan Mackey pitched 5 1/3 innings & Ryan Kelleher 2/3. Beverly East's second batter reached on a single and the next batter hit a 2 run HR. Beverly would only have 2 more hits the rest of the game. Bottom 4 Danvers scored a run, but that would be it for the evening. Both teams played a very solid game, pitching was excellent for both teams as well as defense, hits were extremely hard to come by. The players and coaches would like to thank all those that attended games and supported the team along the way.

12's Game 1: Danvers American 14, Amesbury 4 In game one of the JF 12 Tournament, the Danvers Americans defeated Amesbury, 14-4. The Americans pounded out 17 hits, including Home Runs by Lucas Lentine and Mike DiSciullo. In the first inning , Danvers put three on the board with hits from DiSciullo, Lentine, Matt Rybicki and Dan Rizzo. The 12s scored in every inning, with the entire lineup hitting safely. DiSciullo(4 hits,HR), Lentine(3 hits,HR), Rybicki(2 hits) and D.Rizzo(2 hits) led the offense for Danvers. Dan Rizzo, with relief from DiSciullo, pitched effectively for the Americans. Defensively, Jonathan Milne and Chris Behen had outstanding games . The Americans go for their second win Tuesday versus Beverly in the double elimination tourney, at Ipswichs' Bialek Park.
12's Game 2: Danvers American 4, Peabody West, 1
In a hard-fought battle in the ever-growing rivalry that is Danvers vs. Peabody, the Jimmy Fund 12 Americans defeated Peabody West, 4-1. A tremendous six-hit, omplete-game pitching performance by Jonathan Milne quieted a solid Peabody West lineup. After giving up a HR to F. Palmisano in the first inning, Milne shut down Peabody West's 12s for the remainder of the game. Outstanding defense by Josh Koen (3B) and Matt Rizzo (catcher) shut down a bases-loaded, no-out rally in the 4th by Peabody. Milne, Dan Rizzo and Chris Behen also turned in outstanding defensive plans for the Americans. Offensively, the Danvers 12s were led by Matt Rizzo (2 hits), Matt Flynn (2 hits, 2 RBI), and Mike DiSciullo (2 hits). Cam MacLeod's baserunning and Matt Olszak's clutch hitting gave Danvers two more runs in the 4th to secure the win. With a 2-0 record in the double-elimination tourney, Danvers 12s now play Saturday night vs. the Peabody Americans at Ipswich's Bialek Park.
12's Game 3: Peabody Americans 5, Danvers Americans 3
The Danvers 12s lost a close battle to the Peabody American 12s, 5-3. Peabody's Bena and the Americans' Dan Rizzo locked up in a pitcher's duel. Rizzo went the distance for the Americans, pitching an outstanding game. Danvers closed out the first inning with a rare triple play, DiSciullo to MacLeod to Rybicki. Danvers' offense couldn't get untracked until the th inning. Following a Matt Olszak walk and a Matt Flynn single, Lucas Lentine blasted a 3-run Hr to center field to close the gap to 5-3. Mike DiSciullo and Matt Rybicki led off the 6th with base hits, giving the home team Americans one final shot. Consecutive shots to the outfield by Josh Koen and Matt Flynn were caught, ending Danvers' bid for the win.
The American 12s play again Wednesday night @ 8:00 at Bialek Park in Ipswich.
12s Game 4: Danvers American 5, Peabody National 4
The Danvers JF12's defeated the Peabody Nationals,5-4. Jonathan Milne pitched another tremendous game, going 4 strong innings. Matt Rybicki pitched extremely well in relief, getting the save. In a closely fought contest, the Peabody Nat's held a 2-1 lead before Danvers capitalized in the 4th. An infield hit by Josh Koen and a double by Jonathan Milne set the stage for Dan Rizzo's screaming 3-run Home Run over everything in left. Lucas Lentine finished off the scoring with a solo Home Run in the 5th. Lentine(2 hits, HR) and Milne(2 hits) led the offense for Danvers. The Danvers 12's have a rematch with Peabody West, winner advancing to the Semi-Finals, on Sunday @ 5:30.
12s Game 5: Danvers American 6, Peabody West 3
The Danvers American JF 12's defeated their counterparts from West Peabody for the second time in the tourney, 6-3. Mike DiSciullo, with an outstanding 5 innings on the mound, got the win for Danvers. Dan Rizzo shut things down in the 6th for the save. The Danvers offense was led once again by the hot bat of Lucas Lentine, 3 hits including a 2-run Home Run, his third of the tourney. Also contributing at the plate were Cam MacLeod, Matt Flynn and Jonathan Milne. The Americans, displaying great defense once again, got solid plays from Mike DiSciullo, Cam MacLeod, Josh Koen and Lentine. With 3 teams remaining, the Danvers 12's play Tuesday night @5:30 in a Semi-Final match-up.
12-year-olds win again: Danvers American 7, Peabody American 0
The Danvers 12's beat their third Peabody team in four days to advance to the finals of the Jimmy Fund 12 tourney. Matt Rybicki was outstanding with a complete game, 1-hit, 8-strikeout performance. Dan Rizzo jump started the Danvers offense with a first inning Home Run. Matt Rizzo answered with a 2-run HR of his own in the third inning. The Rizzo brothers (2-hits apiece), Luke Mistretta, Lucas Lentine and Rybicki sparked the Danvers offense. The Danvers 12's play Beverly East in the Finals @ 7:00 Wednesday in Ipswich.

Danvers American 11s won their first game 2-0 against Beverly East. Brendan Donahue pitched 5 innings of 1-hit baseball and was supported by the defense of second baseman Ryan McGinnis, shortstop Andrew Olszak, first baseman Hayden Graham, and catcher Hunter Costa. Danvers American got hits in game one from Hunter Costa (2), William McGuinness, Dave Hurley, and Andrew Olszak.
11's Game 2: 7/13/2009; Danvers American 7, Gloucester National 6
The 11s advanced to the winner bracket semi-final Friday night at Moulton Field against Danvers National. Danvers American received great pitching from Corey Crossley and timely hitting from Andrew Olszak, William McGuinness, and Brendan Donahue to build a 7-0 lead heading into the fifth inning. Gloucester National staged a furious and valiant comeback to bring the score to 7-6 in the top of the sixth inning. Danvers American was able to escape with the victory thanks to the relief pitching of Ryan McGinnis and the defense of right fielder Brendan Donahue, center fielder Danny Lynch, shortstop Andrew Olszak, and catcher Hunter Costa. Next game is the winner's bracket semi-final on Friday 7/17/09 at Tapley, 5:15.
11's Game 3: 7/17/2009: Danvers American 5, Danvers National 3
Brendan Donahue pitched a strong 5 2/3 innings, striking out 8 and giving up 6 hits and one walk, to lead Danvers American over Danvers National, 5-3.Danvers American got hits from Hunter Costa, William McGuinness, Dave Hurley, Hayden Graham, Donahue, Danny Lynch, Ryan McGinnis and Andrew Olszak. Olszak struck the big blow of the game, a three-run home run in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-1. Danvers National pitcher Eric Powers pitched a strong game and hit a two run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 5-3. Tom Dempsey had two hits for the Nats and also drew a walk. Danvers American received great play in the field from Olszak at shortstop, Lynch in center field, T.J. Deinstadt and Troy Fleming in right field, Corey Crossley at first base, and Jody Desmond at third base.
11's Game 4: Winner Bracket Final: Danvers American 9 Beverly West 6
David Hurley took the hill for DALL and pitched a very strong game. Hurley pitched 4 innings and Ryan McGinnis the last 2 innings in relief. First inning the defense made uncharacteristic mistakes costing 2 runs. But the team stepped up and posted 4 bottom of one. Will McGuinness got on with an error, David Hurley also reached on an error. With 2 outs Danny Lynch hit a 3 run HR, then Corey Crossley hit a back to back HR for the 4 runs. Bevrly scored top 2 to bring score 4-3, then they scored 2 more top 3 to take lead 5-4. Bottom three Danny Lynch double, Haydn Graham walk, Troy Fleming walk loaded the bases, then Ryan McGinnis plated the tieing run with a single. Bottom 4: Andrew Olszak walked with 2 outs and David Hurley followed with a 2 run HR 7-5 lead. Top 5 Beverly scored again to bring score 7-6. Bottom 5: TJ Deinstadt walk, Brendan Donahue single then Jody Desmond knocked the 2 runs in with a single to left field. The game ended on a grounder to SS Andrew Olszak who stepped on second and threw to Corey Crossley for the double play to end the game.

10's Game 1: Danvers American 2, Middleton 3
A pitching duel was observed on Saturday between Danvers Jeremy Koen and Middleton Steven Heintzman. Both pitchers went the distance with Middleton pulling it out in the bottom of the sixth. Each pitcher gave up only 5 hits, with Koen striking out 6 and Heintzman scattering 8 strikeouts over 6 frames. The Danvers bats were hitting the ball well, but were matched by Middleton outfield, which included several great catches off the bats of the Danvers batters. Danvers offense was led by Quintin Holland (2-2, RBI), Jordan DeDonato (2-2, 2B RS) Jack Ward (1-2, 2B, RS) and Matt Andreas (RBI). Defensive highlights included a beauty double play turned by DeDonato, Turner and Holland to get the batter at first and tag out at third. Matt Andreas did a superb job behind the plate holding Middleton runners in place all game, not allowing any pass ball advances. Danvers will rebound on Sunday against Manchester-Essex.
10's Game 2: Danvers 18, Manchester-Essex 8
The offense came alive as Danvers posted 15 runs in the first inning to give them a four-inning mercy rule win over a good-hitting Manchester-Essex team. Tyler Armstrong went three 3 strong innings with Quintin Holland finishing off the pponents by striking out the side in the fourth. Manchester-Essex threatened several times but fell short of the persistent Danvers defense. The Danvers offense was patient at the plate as they compiled 14 walks and 11 hits. Matt Andreas had 2 doubles, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored to lead the attack. Followed by Quintin Holland (2-2, 3RS), Jack Ward (2-3, 2 RBI, 2RS), Jordan DeDonato (1-2, 2RS), Cam Bornstein (1-2, RBI, RS), Sam Montanari (1-3, RBI, RS) and Sean Rooney (1-1, 2RBI, RS). Danvers will meet Merrimac on Friday, July 17, at 7:00 pm at Cy Tenney Park.
10's Game 3: Danvers 16, Merrimac 6
Danvers was able to pull out another mercy rule game through 5 innings against a persistent Merrimac team. This is Merrimac's first year in the District and they showed they will be contenders in the future. Cam Bornstein and Quintin Holland combined for 7 strikeouts over 5 innings in addition to making several good defensive plays on the mound. Danvers scattered 12 hits and pushed 10 different players across the plate in what proved to be a very balance offensive attack. Leading the way was Joe Soucy, (3-3, 4RBI) including the game-winning walk off single. Other offensive leaders were Tyler Armstrong (2-3, 2runs, 2RBI), Sean ooney (2-3, 2runs, 2RBI) and Cam Bornstein (1-1, 2BB, 2runs, RBI).
10's Game 4: Danvers 10, Amesbury 0
Combine great pitching with great defense and sprinkle in some timely hitting and you get another Danvers mercy rule game. Jeremy Koen allowed one hit over 4 innings not allowing a ball out of the infield as he posted 4 strikeouts in a near perfect outing. He overwhelmed the Amesbury bats and was backed up by a solid infield defense of Holland, DeDonato, Ward, Bornstein and Andreas behind the plate. Offensively, the top of the order did its job and pushed 5 runs through in the first frame while sending 10 batters to the plate. Jack Ward led the attack going 3-3, 2B, 2runs, followed by Jordan DeDonato (2-2, BB, 3runs, 3B) and Sam Montanari (2 RS). Danvers will advance to the playoff round and face Beverly East on Sunday, July 19 at 4:30 at Cy Tenney Park.
10's Game 5: Danvers American 2, Beverly East 1
Good pitching and tight defense was the name of the game as Danvers American bested Beverly East in the first round of the playoffs. Tyler Armstrong went the distance and allowed only two hits and one run as Danvers continued its winning ways. Armstrong struck out 4 over six innings and helped himself by fielding several balls back to the mound and throwing out a runner on a delayed steal for the last out of the first inning. The game remained scoreless through 3 innings until Beverly was able to manufacture a run in the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, Danvers countered by turning patience at the plate and disciplined base running into 2 runs. Holding a one run lead, Danvers silenced Beverly for another 2 innings. With 2 outs in the sixth, the last threat by Beverly was squashed when Sean Rooney made a diving catch for the final out. Danvers American will face Middleton in the second round playoff on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:45pm at Cy Tenney Park. The winner will advance to the championship game on Thursday.
10's semifinals: The Danvers American 10-year-old Jimmy Fund team ended their playoff run with their heads held high, by making it to the final four and falling a little short to Middleton. In true Danvers American fashion, they represented their town well through dedication, hard work, teamwork and true sportsmanship. They finished the tournament with a 4-2 record and just a few runs short of making the championship game. Congratulations to them for a terrific and exciting post season!!

9's Game 1: Danvers American 14, Danvers National 2
The Danvers American 9-year-old squad put together a solid overall performance in both teams' initial game in this summer's Jimmy Fund tournament held in Amesbury. Shane Smith was strong on the mound for the American's going 4 innings (1H, 12K's) and setting the tone early with 3 quick strikeouts in the first sandwiched around a basehit by the Nationals' Nicco Rossitto. The American's then jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the home half the first fueled by hits from Joseph Masterson (2-2, 2 RS), Smith (2-3, 3RBI), Joe Nicolo (2-3, 2B), and Nick Raimo (2-3). The Nationals answered back with 1 run in the second and third innings respectively. Danvers American broke open close game in the bottom of the third with 7 runs keyed by hits by Andrew Dembowski, Matt Reidy, and Jackson Leete and a homerun off the bat of Cody Bernard (2-3, HR, 2RBI). Justin Roberto, Teddy Vaillancourt and Nicco Rossitto played well for the Danvers Nationals.
9's Game 2: Danvers American 10, Amesbury 1
The Danvers American 9-year-old Jimmy Fund team again received excellent starting pitching and timely hitting in breaking away from a tough Amesbury squad, 10-1. Cassey Bussone broke open a 3-1 game in the top of the fifth with a two run triple to left contributing to a 5 run inning that was followed by two more in the sixth. Cody Bernard was superb on the mound for the Americans going five strong innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 6. Bernard threw strikes and let his defense do the work. Nick Raimo (3B), Joseph Masterson (SS), and Matt Reidy (LF) all had outstanding games in the field highlighted by Masterson's 6-3 doubleplay on a ground ball up the middle in the fifth inning. Other offense contributors for the American's were Masterson (1-3, 2B), Jackson Leete (1-3, 2B), Shane Smith (1-3, 2B), Bernard (2-3, 1 RBI), and Joe Nicolo, Nick Discuillo, Andrew Dembowski each with a single. The next ame is Wed 7/15 vs. Peabody American at 7:30 at Cashman Park in Amesbury.
9's Game 3: Danvers American 7, Peabody American 0
The Danvers American 9-year-old Jimmy Fund team rolled to its third consecutive win, 7-0, over Peabody American on Wednesday night in Amesbury. Jackson Leete started on the mound for the Americans and threw 2 very efficient innings before giving way to 4 one-inning stints from Joe Nicolo, Nick Raimo, Joe Masterson and Andrew Dembowski for the combined shutout. Danvers got off to a strong start with 4 runs in the first as Masterson, Leete, Shane Smith and Cody Bernard all scored. The clubs traded scoreless frames in the 2nd and 3rd before Casey Bussone once again came up with a clutch hit driving in 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth as the Americans from Danvers began to pull away. Danvers American has moved onto the single elimination playoff round and will play their first round game on Saturday July 18, 12:15 PM at Cashman Park in Amesbury.
9's Quarterfinals: Danvers American 9, Gloucester American 6
The Danvers American 9-year-old Jimmy Fund squad held off a ferocious comeback at the hands of Gloucester American to advance to the semi-final round. Shane Smith led the way for Danvers both on the mound and at the plate as he belted a 3-run homerun over the left-center field fence in the last of the third inning to give Danvers a 7-0 lead. Smith was also dominant on the mound going 3 2/3 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs and striking out 8 before reaching his pitch count limit. Gloucester then mounted a comeback with 5 runs in the top of the fifth inning to close the gap to 7-5. Danvers answered with 2 keys runs in the last of the fifth on hits by Joseph Masterson and Timmy Usalis. The Gloucester club would not go quietly as they pushed 1 run across in the top of sixth and had men on base when Danvers second baseman Andrew Dembowski stabbed a Gloucester line drive to end the game. It was one of his several stellar defensive plays as Dembowski, Masterson (SS), Usalis (CF,C), Jackson eete (CF) and Smith (C) continue to provide outstanding defense up the middle for Danvers.
9's Semifinals: Danvers American 11, Boxford 4
Danvers American exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead that eventually turned into an 11-4 win over Boxford in the 9 Year-old Jimmy Fund tournament semifinal held in Amesbury. Matt Reidy, Casey Bussone, Zach Dillon, Nick Discuillo and Joseph Masterson each contributed run scoring singles in the second frame. Cody Bernard was again solid on the mound for Danvers as he threw 3 2/3 strong innings and left the game with an 8-3 lead. Jaskson Leete and Joe Nicolo combined to finish the job sending Danvers American to the championship game vs. Middleton on Tuesday, July 21, 6pm at Cashman Park in Amesbury.
Championship Game: Danvers American 18, Middleton 5
The Danvers American 9-year-old Jimmy Fund team completed its sweep of tournament play with a convincing 18-5 win over Middleton in the championship game. It marked the sixth consecutive win for Danvers as they compiled an average of 11+ runs per game while giving up an average of 3 on their way to the District Championship. The final matchup was keyed by a 10 run Danvers third inning that put them up 12-0. Joseph Masterson (2-2, 2BB, 3B, 3RS) and Timmy Usalis (2-2, 2B, 3 RS) led off the inning with consecutive singles. Three batters later there were 2 outs before Danvers sent an additional 10 hitters to the plate for a lengthy two out rally. Andrew Dembowski (2-2, 2RS), Matt Reidy, Zach Dillon (2-2, 2RS), Nick Discuillo and Nick Raimo all contributed offensively in the third. Shane Smith and Jackson Leete combined for the pitching duties as Smith pitched the first four innings giving up 3 runs on 1 hit and getting 6 K's with an impressive fastball. Leete provided solid relief in closing out the last two innings and propelling the Danvers squad to the District Title.
