Danvers National Advances In Tournament, Despite Loss to American

Danvers American 17, Beverly East 4: Danvers bashed five homers, including three in the first inning, to finish Pool 1 play a perfect 4-0. Jackson Leete had a grand slam for the winners while Matt Andreas had a homer with a double and a triple, Courtney Cashman was 3 for 4 with a homer, Devonn Allen was 3 for 3 with a homer and Shane Smith also blasted a home run. "We're swinging the bats really well," said Danvers American manager Mike Ward, whose team plays in the second round on Monday, "We have some plans for keeping things sharp until then." Tyler Armstrong got the win for Danvers, throwing two no-hit innings and striking out three.

Danvers American 12, Hamilton-Wenham 4: Danvers American scored six runs in the fourth to break the game wide open. Tyler Armstrong pitched very well, going the distance and striking out five while giving up only six hits. Courtney Cashman and Matt Andreas were each 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the offense while Timmy Usalis had two hits, Jack Ward doubled and scored the go-ahead run and Jackson Leete also doubled. Nico Serpa hit a 2-run homer for Hamilton-Wenham.
