Fall Roundup
Once again, our travel teams showed well in the Blue Ridge Soccer League with the U12 boys, U15 boys and the U16 boys all winning their respected league brackets. In tournament play we had teams participate in the Central Virginia United, Roanoke Star, Piedmont Shootout and the FCCA tournaments. We brought home some memorable championships this season and one most recently when the U16 boys defeated SOCA from Charlottesville to win the shootout.
In Academy Soccer we again competed in festivals at New River United, CVU and we also held our own festival for the fourth year running. “This has given the kids a great insight into what travel soccer is about and prepares them for the next level,” said Director of Coaching, Enda Crehan.
Our REC Soccer was a huge success again with large numbers participating in the REC League every weekend at the Smith River Sports Complex. This year we also held a NSCAA Level 1 course, which 25 of our coaches, mainly from the REC League, took advantage of.
Overall, our teams and coaches made great strides on the field of play and I can’t wait to see all our players again in the spring with their High School teams, and our younger teams back playing for PYSL. I would like to also take this opportunity to thank all our coaches, parents and volunteers for helping make PYSL what it is today and I look forward to seeing you all again on the pitch for the Spring 2014 season.
On behalf of everyone at PYSL, have a safe and fun-filled Christmas season.
